Late Sunday morning Lehigh County Comm transmitted the box for 729 3rd Street Catasauqua Borough for a house fire with 10 people trapped sending Engine 2, Quint 18, Ladder 2 and Medic 75. Greenawalds Rescue 11 was added as the F.A.S.T. for the working fire signal.
Chief 18 (Scheirer) arrived and reported smoke showing from a 3-sty dwelling. The fire radio advised him all occupants were out of the house now. Moments later he reported entrapment, and told the fire dispatcher he was going inside to attempt the rescue.
Prior to the arrival of the Engine, he reported the victim was out of the house and wanted EMS to the front of the building to check the occupants.
Engine 2 brought in their own water supply from 3rd and Walnut and stretched a hand line to the 1st floor per orders of chief 18. Quint 18 came in from the north and nosed into Engine 2 right in front of the house. Ladder 2 was positioned behind the quint.
The second alarm consisted of Coplay Engine 5, Ladder 15 (Hanover, Northampton County), Whitehall Engine 39 and Air 32.
Three lines were stretched and in operation. The fire was darkened down and under control about 30 minutes later.
