At 03:46 Monday morning Lehigh County 9-1-1 center transmitted the box for 10th and Race Streets in Catasauqua Borough for a house fire sending station 2, Engine 1811 and EMS 75.
Chief 202 arrived and reported a working fire and struck the 2nd alarm. As Engine 211 arrived and prepared to stretch a hand line into the fire building at 412 Race Street, a 2-story wood frame dwelling, Chiefs 202 and 203 pulled the blitz line off the Engine and directed the water into the two upper floor windows to darken down the fire before it could extend.
The fire did extend into the attic and traveled to the attached dwelling on the “Delta” side (Side 4).
Multiple companies from Lehigh and Northampton Counties assisted at the scene.
The fire was brought under control about an hour later. Crews remained on the scene for a few hours hitting hot spots and overhauling.
An arson dog was brought in from the City of Allentown to aid in the investigation.
No injuries were reported.
