Rescue companies go to work on an auto extrication in the Cementon section

Whitehall Township

At 17:58 Whitehall Rescues 5, 8, Engine 4 and Medic 62 were sent to 4th and Main Streets in Cementon for a car v. tree with the driver trapped.

Rescue 5 (40-41) arrived to find a car head-on to a tree with the driver severely trapped and had the companies expedite. The medical helicopter was requested to stand-by but due to weather none would commit.

Rescue crews took the doors and roof off the car and worked 45 minutes to free the driver. He was rushed to an awaiting Cetronia ambulance.

Engine companies had two hand lines stretched for safety while rescue crews operated with multiple hydraulic tools.
