Two Dogs Rescued During 2-Alarm House Fire

Lehigh County

2nd alarm house fire

Just after 8:00A.M. Thursday October 22, 2026 Lehigh County Radio transmitted the North Whitehall box for a house fire on Levans Road in the area of the municipal building sending Station 22, Engine 16, Engine 26, Tower 16 and medic 67.

Dispatchers received two calls reporting smoke from a house but the callers had no idea where they were. When FM 83 (Steward) went on radio he reported that he was flagged down by a passer-by reporting a house on fire on Levans near the elementary school. Shortly after, he went on location at 2766 Levans Road and reported a working fire.

Engine Tanker 22 arrived and dropped a supply line from the hydrant at Levans and Limestone. They stretched a line into the house and made a quick knock of the fire. Whitehall Engine 39 arrived and backed up Engine Tanker 22.

A firefighter found one dog and brought him out but after checking for a pulse they didn’t find, the dog was deceased. However, right after another firefighter came out of the house with a dog and he was alive and well. They treated the dog in the backyard with oxygen.

As the other crews arrived on scene, they assisted in overhaul checking for fire extension while Tower 16 went to the roof and cut a ventilation hole in the roof to relieve the heat and smoke for the interior firefighters to have better conditions working inside.
