The start of the week after the Labor Day Holiday was busy for area firefighters. Mike Nester of NVP caught all the action for us on this Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Let’s start the day just before 8:30am when Northampton County dispatched companies to 309 McNair Drive in Allen Township for a house fire. Command quickly escalated it to a 2nd alarm. Then to the 3rd alarm when the other side of the duplex was threatened. The firefighters did a great job and stopping this fire which appeared to have started in or near the garage.
Later in the morning, just before 11:30am, firefighters were sent to the TurnPike near the service plaza north and south bound for the auto extrication. A tractor trailer hauling metal pipes hit a car traveling northbound and sent it over to the southbound lanes. Everyone was out of the vehicles upon the arrival of the fire department. Now we head over to Whitehall Township for the car fire that closed Route 145 at the Lehigh Valley Mall entrance. The car in the right travel lane just north of the mall entrance was well involved upon the arrival of Whitehall Fire Department. Whitehall Police blocked the highway so the first-due engine could proceed south in the northbound lanes. Youtube video below.
