Friday evening, a car entered a parking lot at the Spring Ridge Apartments at 1339 North 14th Street in Whitehall Township hitting multiple cars and two pedestrians.
Assistant Chief 36 responded to the crash and after investigating, requested a rescue assignment transmitted for people pinned between cars.
The driver of the car exited the vehicle and walked away from the scene. A fire official spotted the male near 13th and Fairmont Streets and alerted police patrols. He was taken into custody. He appeared to be under the influence.
Back at the scene of the crash, EMS transported a male and female to the trauma center with class 1 life-threatening injuries.
Police from Allentown and South Whitehall assisted at the scene. Crime scene tape was used to block a large portion of 14th street and the parking lot to pedestrians and vehicle traffic.
The Lehigh County Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate. One person has died in the hospital as a result of the injuries related to this crash.
Details are too sketchy at this point to reveal any motive in this case.
