Just after midnight Sunday, Allentown transmitted box 5122 for the 600 block of south 10th Street for a building fire assigning Engines 11, 14, 9, 4, Truck 2 and Battalion 43 (Williams).
Battalion 43 arrives and reports fire throughout a 1-story vacant factory and signals a working fire. Engine 9 arrives first and leads off with their largest hand lines. A hydrant right outside the gate of the complex supplies nine with water. Engine 4 and Truck 2 position on the property that is 200 yards off the street. Engines 11 and 14 position on 10th Street and send their manpower into the property.
Members darken down the bulk of the fire quickly but find the fire extended into the cockloft. Truck 2 was then set-up and supplied water to their elevated master stream and ordered to hit the fire on the roof. Interior had to be careful due to the instability of the ceiling / roof.
Crews remained on scene for a few hours overhauling and dousing hot spots. The fire is under investigation.
