Sunday October 22, 2023 Allentown transmitted box 2333 at 6:27 for the address 915 North Penn Street for a house fire with people trapped sending Engines 6 ,9, 4, 13 (F.A.S.T.), Truck 2 and Battalion 3.
Engine 6 arrives first-due and tells the comm center he has two homes involved and to strike out the 2nd alarm.
The second alarm consists of Engines 10, 14, Truck 1 and Air 1.
Battalion 3 arrives and transmits the 3rd alarm bringing in the last engine in the city, Engine 11.
Truck 1 reports a lady on the roof in the rear and also reports that 2 babies may still be inside. They remove the female from the roof and gain entry to the 2nd floor of the main fire building. Moments later, they radio to the chief that they found a victim and removing them via the interior stairs to the front of the building where EMS is waiting.
Paramedics request the coroner to meet them at the hospital. A 28 year-old female was pronounced deceased at the Saint Lukes Hospital from injuries related to this fire.
Engine 6 and 9 positioned in the front of the fire building and made a fast knock-down of the fire from the front. However, the fire extended into the porch roof and spread horizontally to 9 other attached homes. The exposure on side 2 (919) was heavily damaged by the fire. The remaining homes appear to only have porch damage.
Two firefighters were treated by AEMS and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Allentown Fire Marshal and the Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal is investigating this fire.
There is no word on the babies that were reported to be in the house.
