Allentown transmitted box 3126 for 136 North 2nd Street for an apartment building fire with people trapped sending Engines 6, 9, 4, 14 (F.A.S.T.), Truck 2 and Battalion 3 (Thompsen).
Engine 6 arrived and reported a working fire and stretched a hand line through the front door to knock down the fire. Crews immediately removed a male victim and brought him out to the sidewalk where EMS attended to him. A second line was stretched off Engine 6 to back-up the first line. Crews worked the first floor darkening down fire. They found more fire in the ceiling towards the rear of the building.
While they were knocking down fire on the first floor, crews were working above conducting primary searches on the upper floors.
Battalion Chief Thompsen arrived and had the 2nd alarm struck bringing in Engines 13, 10, Truck 1 and Air 1.
As smoke pushed from the rear and side 4 he struck out the 3rd alarm bringing in the last engine in the city, Engine 11.
Volunteer companies around Allentown were called-in to man city fire houses while city operated at the fire.
