The Allentown firefighters battled two fires Wednesday evening one on top of the other. The video below is edited in a reality TV format.
Early Wednesday evening, Allentown transmitted box 2229 for 127 North Poplar Street for a house fire. Engines 4, 9, 10, 6, Truck 2 and Battalion 43 (Atiyeh) were assigned. Companies arrived and found a fire in the walls of the 3-story M/O/R and stretched two lines off of Engine 4. Engine 4 was blocked by an illegally parked car on the tight street. Police issued a parking ticket.
The fire was quickly extinguished with no extension. While companies were taking up at this scene, box 2316 was transmitted for a garage fire behind 713 North 8th Street sending Engines 14 and 11.
Chief Atiyeh released Engines 6, 10 and Truck 2 from North Poplar Street to respond on the 8th Street box.
Chief 43 arrives behind 739 Tilghman Street and reports a 2-story garage fully involved. Engine 6 arrives at Tilghman and Silk Street and stretched in.
