Just after 1:00AM Saturday, Whitehall police was notified to be on the look out and keep their eyes open for two dirt bikes that were stolen from a motorsport dealer in Palmerton, Carbon County.
Lehigh Township Police spotted the bikes heading south on Route 145 at a high rate of speed.
Whitehall Police unit 806 was in the area of American Pools when one bike flew by without its lights on. 806 started to follow it but lost it in the area of Schadt Avenue, about a mile south of the initial contact.
Another bike, this one red, was spotted by 805 eastbound on Mechanicsville Road toward Route 145. Other patrol units found it flying through the Walmart parking lot. The perp dumped the bike in the lot and fled on foot towards the rear of the department store. Car 806 officer engaged in a foot pursuit while other patrol cars raced to the rear of the store. The perp, all dressed in black was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
A total of 4 bikes were stolen during the early morning break-in at R&D Motorsports. Three bikes have been recovered.
