Friday evening around 20:45 Lehigh County 9-1-1 received a call from a passer-by reporting a house on fire at 1257 Catasauqua Road.
Assistant Chief Rice arrived and signaled a working fire in a 2-story single-family-dwelling. Engine 4 (F.A.S.T.) and Ladder 231 were added to the box.
Engine 2 arrived and stretched 4 hand lines. Engine 1 reversed lay to a hydrant at Orchard and Catasauqua to supply 2 with water.
It took firefighters over an hour to bring the fire under control. Crews remained on scene for a few more hours overhauling.
