Monday afternoon, Stations 2 and 18 were sent to 732 2nd Street for a house fire.
Police arrived and reported a working kitchen fire. Engine 18 (North Catasauqua) arrived first-due and stretched a hand line through the front door to the kitchen and made a quick knock on the fire.
Two more companies arrived and went to back up the initial attack line with only one firefighter on it. The second crew went to the second floor to check for extension.
Additional companies were special-called due to the shortage of manpower during the day.
