At 18:50 hours Tuesday evening, Lehigh County transmitted a box for 1806 Rockdale Road in North Whitehall Township for a reported house fire sending Engines 12, 16, 47, Tankers 12, 16, Ladder 16 and Medic 67.
Dispatch advised responding chief 12-03 that they had one call reporting the house was on fire. Moments later, 9-1-1 started receiving multiple calls for a fire from Route 145. With that information, the chief transmitted the 2nd alarm sending in Tanker 22, Whitehall Engine 4 (LC3911), Tanker 47, Rescue 22 and Rescue 11 as the designated F.A.S.T. company.
The address is located at the end of a long driveway in a very rural area of the township. Tankers had to be called in from Lehigh and Northampton Counties to supply water because this area lacks a hydrant system.
A third alarm was transmitted for more tankers and manpower. Multiple deck guns and large hand lines were used around all sides of the building. Firefighters had to use caution as live power lines came down and portions of the building began to collapse.
