Just after 3:30AM Thursday, Allentown transmitted box 2255 for 501 North 7th Street for a building fire sending Engines 9, 4, 6, 13, Truck 2 under the command of Battalion 43 (Beers).
Engine 9 positioned in the front of the fire building while Engine 6 took the rear on Liberty Street. Battalion 43 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing and signaled a working fire.
Engine 6 needed a water supply in the rear so Chief Beers special-called Engine 14 to the scene to supply 6.
As the fire extended, the chief filled-out the 2nd alarm bringing Engines 10, Truck 1 and Air 1 to the scene.
