At 10:20AM Thursday, December 19 Lehigh County 911 dispatched stations 2 and 18 to 642 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, for an odor of smoke inside the dwelling.
Deputy 2 arrived and reported nothing showing from the 2.5 story duplex. After further investigation, crews forced the door to 644 and found a smoke condition and signaled a working fire with possible entrapment.
During the search, they found a person inside deceased. Crews extinguished the fire quickly. By the looks of the exterior, there was smoke damage to a rear window on the American Street side indicating possibly a kitchen fire.
Catasauqua Police requested the coroner to the scene. The fire marshal office is investigating the cause of the fire.
