Just after 16:30 hours Tuesday, companies were dispatched to 1485 Route 309 in Richland Township, Bucks County Pennsylvania for smoke from the rear of the Bubba’s Pot Belly Stove Restaurant.
Deputy Chief 56 arrived and reported heavy smoke from a vent on the south side of the building. Tanker 56 arrived and came to the rear of the building where they stretched two hand lines to the kitchen and made an interior attack. A second alarm was transmitted shortly after.
As the intense smoke and fire traveled the roof line, crews were ordered out of the building. Truck companies cut numerous holes in the roof in an attempt to vent and locate the fire. As fire extended and started burning through the roof, elevated master streams were place into service.
High winds hampered firefighting efforts. Firefighters gained control of the fire after about an hour and a half later. A tanker task force was called to supply water at the scene. Route 309 was closed in both directions for hours while firefighters battled the blaze and cleaned up.
