Allentown transmitted box 3155 at 22:17 Friday evening for a report of a structural fire at Railroad and Furnace Streets sending Engines 6, 9, 4, 13 (F.A.S.T.), Truck 2 and Battalion 43 (Captain Kutz).
Engine 6 arrives and has smoke from a 4-story warehouse and investigates. Moments later Engine 6A reports a working fire in the building and instructs Truck 2 to set-up in the parking lot on the west side of the building. The building actually is 3 stories tall with a walk-out basement on the west side.
Engine 6 stretches a hand line to the first floor and located the fire and makes a quick attack. With smoke pushing from upper floors, Captain Kutz has the 2nd alarm transmitted bringing in Engines 10, 14 and Air 1.
The truck company opens up two or three boarded up windows on the second floor, while interior crews check all floors for extension.
A request was made by the acting Battalion to call out a Fire Marshal to investigate the cause of the fire. Captain Kutz places the fire under control at 23:03. No injuries were reported.
As some companies were returning to quarters and cleaning up from the warehouse job, box 2318 (10th & Tilghman) was transmitted for a report of a house fire at 972 Tilghman Street. Companies quickly investigated and found a cooking incident and released the call and returned the remaining companies to quarters.
