Just before 1:00AM, Lehigh County Fire Radio transmitted the box for 1036 Cherry Tree Crossing for a house fire sending Upper Macungie Township stations 25, 56 and 8 along with Medic 62.
When first responding Tanker 25 out of Trexlertown went responding the fire dispatcher advised the crew that two juveniles were seen running from the property after throwing a Molotov Cocktail type device at the side of the trailer and that police arrived and confirm a fire in the trailer.
The first chief on-scene confirmed the police report and signaled a working fire and requested two additional tankers above the first alarm assignment.
Tanker 25 arrived and stretched a hand line and attacked the fire from the outside to darken down the fire and cool the interior. That crew then went inside to make an interior attack. A second hand line was stretched and used to extinguish the fire on the outside of the trailer.
Searches were conducted and no one was inside. Fire officials say the home was not occupied at the time of the fire, however, many pets inside did not survive the heat and smoke.
The Upper Macungie Fire Marshal’s are investigating this suspicious fire and called in the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal to assist in its investigation.
