While companies were responding to an alarm system call in a high rise, Allentown Fire Radio transmitted box 2266 (8th & Allen) 603 North Eight Street for a house fire.
FM 45 arrived first and reported a working fire in a 3-story end-of-row with people trapped.
Engine 9 arrived first and stretched two hand lines. battalion 43 arrived and took command and had the first engine stretch and the second due engine perform rescues in the rear where civilians were on the fire escape.
Engine 13 took Allen Street and stretched up the rear of the building.
In the front on 8th Street, crews made quick work darkening down the fire on the first floor.
On the initial box Engines 9, 4, 6, 13 (E8R), Truck 2 (E11) under the command of Chief 43. The chief ordered an additional engine on top of the 1st alarm (Engine 14).
It should be noted that Truck 2 front line piece is out of service and the reserve tower ladder is also out-of-service so the department is using Engine 11 which is a quint. Engine 11 is using a reserve engine as well as Engine 13.
